The Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals (BIIA) is an independent state agency. It is separate from the Department of Labor and Industries. The BIIA's purpose is to hear and decide appeals from decisions of the Department.
The purpose of this website is to provide useful information about the BIIA and the appeal process. You will find easy access to current laws, rules, and Significant Board Decisions.

Rules for Structured Settlement Agreements
The Board adopted rules for structured settlements under Engrossed House Bill 2123 on November 22, 2011, with an effective date of December 23, 2011. A copy of the rules is available by going to our structured settlement page.

Traveling North to the Tacoma Board office
I-5 Northbound –
Exit 133, the northbound exit from I-5 to the Tacoma City Center is closed, and traffic will detour via Exit 132. The closure is scheduled through July and drivers should anticipate delays.
